Place An Order On Hold / Release A Hold
Learn how to add a Hold on order to stop it from being shipped or how to remove a hold put by online store or Inventory issues.
Sometimes you may need to pause the shipment of an order, perhaps while awaiting a customer's reply or if you're wary of a fraudulent payment.
To prevent an order from being shipped by the warehouse, you can place the order on
Hold
.If Shopify flags the order, it will bear a Fraud Hold status, and the warehouse won't process it further until the hold is lifted.
Navigate to Order On Hold
To begin, under the
Orders
tab, click on Manage Orders
from the dropdown menu to access your Orders Listing page.Search for the Order and click the
#OrderNo
link to go to Order Details
page.You can also find on Hold orders in the Main page
Place an order on Hold until Time/Date
Additionally, if there's a need to delay an order's processing until a specific date or time, look towards the top right of the screen in the order details section. Here, you can input a
Hold Until Date
and Hold Until Time
.
These fields allow you to specify exactly when an order should move out of hold status and be ready for shipment.Place an order on Hold
Navigate to the bottom of the Order Details page, to the
Holds
section. Should you need to apply a hold, simply check the appropriate box. Conversely, to release an order from any hold status, you'll uncheck the corresponding box.Release an order from Hold
When the time comes to release the order from its hold, simply reverse the process.
Return to the Order Details page and scroll down to the
Holds
section. Here, uncheck the box next to the hold you wish to clear. To save this change, click on the Update
button. Click Update to save the final state of Holds
